"Magnificent" is the word to describe a mature and heavy antlered bull. The crowning jewel of the big game deer family is a trophy hunter's dream. Quality game management along with sportsmen-funded projects are responsible for elk populations being on the increase. A bugling elk in close proximity can unnerve even the most seasoned hunter. A sub-dominant challenging bugle often is the trigger to draw that animal within range. Other times, the mew of an estrus cow excites the bull to close the distance.
